The Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons is advising its members to contact any patients with Silimed breast implants following the suspension of the licence for all medical devices manufactured by the company following an audit of its manufacturing procedures.
“Patient safety is, as always, our priority, and while there is no evidence at this stage of any threat to patient health, we are nonetheless notifying our patients of the suspension and working closely with relevant authorities to determine next steps.
We will continue to update our members and ask them to keep their patients fully informed of any developments or clinical issues,” said Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons spokesperson, Professor Rod Cooter.
Silimed breast implants are distributed in Australia by Device Technologies.
