A/Prof Scott Ferris has extensive experience across the breadth of reconstructive plastic surgery which he undertakes in both private and public practice settings. His medical, general surgical and advanced plastic surgical training was based in Melbourne Australia. He continues to travel internationally for his own ongoing education, as well as to lecture in his areas of expertise.
A/Prof Ferris’ clinical work commonly involves treatment of tumours or the consequences of trauma. The microvascular aspects of plastic surgery feature heavily, including brachial plexus surgery, head and neck cancer surgery, lower limb reconstruction and breast reconstruction. Additionally, he undertakes extensive and advanced skin cancer surgery and elective and traumatic hand surgery.
A/Prof Ferris is the Deputy Director of Plastic Surgery at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, as well as Director of the Victorian Plastic Surgery Unit in East Melbourne. He was the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons appointed Supervisor of Training for accredited registrars undergoing advanced training in plastic surgery for sixteen years (firstly at the Victorian Plastic Surgery Unit and then at the Alfred Hospital). He is the author of numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers and book chapters, and editor and reviewer for multiple surgical journals.
