Dr Elizabeth Concannon

Dr Concannon completed specialist training in Plastic, Reconstructive and Burns Surgery in Ireland before moving to Australia for further fellowship training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital Burns Unit. She chose to undergo further training at the Adelaide Adult Burn Service due to its large geographic catchment of and to gain experience using the dermal substitute known as Biodegradable Temporising Matrix which was designed and developed by Professor John Greenwood and Associate Professor Marcus Wagstaff. This was followed by second year of oncology reconstruction fellowship at Peter Mac Callum Cancer Centre, Melbourne. Since completion of fellowship training, she has been employed as a Plastic Surgery and Burns Consultant at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Dr Concannon has maintained an interest in clinical research throughout her career as a reconstructive burn surgeon, particularly in areas of dermal substitutes, skin engineering, inhalation injury and burns mass casualty incident management. She is an active member of the Australia New Zealand Burns Association and the American Burns Association Reconstructive Committee and participates in teaching and academic pursuits with the University of Adelaide.
