Mr Nanda Kandamany obtained his primary medical degree from the University of Dundee, Scotland, before embarking on Basic Surgical Training in Glasgow. He then undertook a Laser Research Fellowship in Bedford Hospital, England. He then undertook a laboratory research post in the Burns and Plastic Surgery Unit at the University of Bradford, England under the tutelage of Professor David Sharpe, culminating in research presented both nationally and internationally. Subsequently, Mr Kandamany embarked on specialist training in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery in Scotland; in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, and Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit in Glasgow. After obtaining Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians (Glasgow), he went on to join Professor Fiona Wood in Perth, Western Australia, completing a Burns Fellowship in adult and paediatric burns management, followed by a Fellowship in Hand Surgery at Fremantle Hospital, Western Australia. With a passion for general plastic and reconstructive surgery, Mr Kandamany practices in a diverse field. He is one of a handful of surgeons in Aust - and the only plastic surgeon in Tasmania - to be dual qualified in Plastic Surgery, with Fellowships in both the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and its UK counterpart. Experienced in the full range of plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, he leads both the Breast Reconstruction and Burns Laser service at the Royal Hobart Hospital with particular interests including skin cancer, head and neck surgery, hand surgery (elective and trauma), all breast surgery including complex microsurgical reconstruction (congenital and post cancer), burns, laser surgery and cosmetic surgery. Passionate about research, education and evidence-based practice, Mr Kandamany is extensively published in peer-reviewed literature, is a senior clinical lecturer with the University of Tasmania, and actively leads regular clinical departmental teaching.
