Research Biography
Dr Goldie is a medical and science graduate from the University of Glasgow and a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow. He wrote his thesis on Head and Neck Cancer Stem Cells in Professor Fiona Watt’s Cambridge lab, graduating with a PhD from the Department of Genetics at the University of Cambridge. His research was funded by both Cancer Research UK and MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowships. After immigrating to Australia, he spent time as a post-doctoral researcher in the lab of Prof Stephen Jane, where he published further work in the cell biology of squamous cell carcinoma as well as new interests in development and medical education. His post-doctoral research was supported by two competitively won travel fellowships from the UK. Having worked as a plastic surgery doctor in Scotland, England, South Australia, and Victoria, he is now in his final year as a plastic surgery trainee. He currently holds a Senior Lecturer’s position at Flinders University in Adelaide and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer position at Monash University, where he co-supervises master’s and PhD students.
